Respond to this: Cryptocurrency and the Dark Web are two sides of the same coin. They both attract users who value their privacy. People have legitimate reasons for wanting privacy and anonymity, but unfortunately also have malevolent reasons. Similar to my views on cryptocurrency regulations, I do not think that the Dark Web should be subject to further oversight and regulation. The Dark Web has many legitimate uses that are a net good for society. It is necessary to have an avenue to people living under oppressive regimes to contact journalist, as well as read news that is not government propaganda. Furthermore, as advertisers increasingly track our every move, and the data they collect on us can be hacked by bad actors, it is reasonable to want a way to anonymously use the internet. However, the negative ways the Dark Web can be used should be taken lightly or ignored. The criminal and immoral activities that are conducted on the Dark Web need to be stopped. I believe that if the Dark Web was regulated, that criminals would find other tools to use to conduct their business. The legitimate uses would cease, but the illegitimate would find another way.
