Problem regarding reason of insanity under mnaghten rule

Assignment task: On June 20, 2001, Andrea Yates, a Texas woman, killed her 5 young children. After her husband left the house, she killed all five of them one after the other. And when her oldest son, Noah, resisted and fought for his life, Andrea overpowered him and would not let go. She forced him to die in the same tub water in which she had killed all four of his siblings- several of whom had vomited and defecated as they died. The police found the bodies lined up neatly, still wet, on Andrea's bed. In 2002, Andrea Yates was found guilty of capital murder by a jury for drowning each of her 5 children in a bathtub. However, she appealed this decision and obtained a retrial. At the retrial, the jury found her not guilty by reason of insanity under the M'Naghten rule. What would be factors which you would examine to determine whether Andrea Yates was in fact, "legally insane?"
