Problem: Grand Rapids City and Detroit are the two cities with high rates of health equity concerns. However, Grand Rapids City and their department of health seeks residents to help address their main concerns such as mental health, access to health care, discrimination and racial inequity and their economic security. The city is one of the fastest growing US cities with economic opportunities for business but communities of color struggle to thrive there living in poverty. Same situation happens in Detroit which it is an ongoing concern for the community, they on the other hand experience limited access to resources such as healthcare and healthy foods, unemployment, poor air quality, and housing instability. Gran Rapid City has 15 free treatment programs, 10 inpatient rehab center, 1 outpatient, and 5 drug and alcohol addiction detox centers.
