Problem: cpt codes
This 55-year-old female was seen in the Dermatology Clinic two days ago because of a large, dark lesion on her back that seems to have changed in the last few months. She is scheduled to undergo excision of the lesion at the Outpatient Surgery Center today. Under general anesthesia, the 2.5 cm x 1.5 cm lesion with 0.5 cm margin is removed from her back in the right shoulder blade area. The surgeon sends the specimen for frozen section, which returns with one margin positive for melanoma. The surgeon removes another .2 cm margin around the excisional site. This returns negative, so it appears that the entire lesion is removed. The wound was closed with intermediate repair. She tolerated the procedure well.
