Assignment Directions: Read the paragraph and answer the question. Far up at the Northern edge of the Pacific Ocean are two islands that face each other in the Bering Strait. One of the islands is called Little Diomede, which belongs to the U.S.A. The other island is called Big Diomede and it belongs to the U.S.S.R. These two islands are only three miles apart. The fact that these two are so close can be the cause of much conflict between these two powerful nations.
