The protection warfighting function enables the operation to conserve the force and maintain continuity for operations. It incorporates activities that protect personnel, equipment, and infrastructure from threats of enemy action and environmental hazards. An activity example would include disease prevention and control measures such as vaccination and vector control. Sustainment warfighting function provides forces with the capability to maintain operational capability and effectiveness, therefore enabling them to execute their missions without interruption. This includes a series of actions regarding the readiness, logistical support, and health service support of the units in conducting a mission. An example would be field hospitals that would be able to treat service members to either return to duty or evacuate for further care. My MOS is 68S (Preventive Medicine Specialist).
