Problem: The current policy I chose to discuss is national abortion rights. Vice President Kamala Harris recently advocated for ending a procedural rule in the Senate, which currently requires a supermajority to pass legislation protecting the right to abortion nationwide. After the 2022 Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, several states enacted laws banning or significantly restricting abortion access. Vice President Harris advocates for removing the filibuster related to Roe in order to reinstate legal safeguards for reproductive rights.
