Problem: Upon watching the doll test video, I was deeply saddened by the results. The experiment involved presenting white and black children with two dolls, identical except for their skin color and eye color, and asking them to choose which doll was good and which was bad. The children overwhelmingly chose the white doll as good, nice, or the best, while the black doll was deemed bad and ugly. Our textbook, states, "Very early, White children come to value their Whiteness, presume it is the definition of normal, and believe that therefore all other skin colors are strange and less-than (Derman-Sparks)
