Problem based on warrant to search the property

Problem: A police officer saw a robber point a pistol at a couple and take items from them before fleeing on foot. The officer chased the robber on foot. The robber, with gun still in hand, ran into a nearby apartment. This apartment was being leased by the robber. The officer followed the robber into the apartment and the officer realized that there was no rear exit. The officer began to search the apartment in an attempt to locate the robber and found a large quantity of drugs when he opened a hallway closet. The robber was located under a bed in another room. The officer arrested the robber for the armed robbery and possession of drugs with the intent to distribute. At a pre-trial motion, the robber's attorney argued that the drugs were inadmissible evidence because the officer did not have a warrant to search the property. How will the court rule? A. Inadmissible, the officer needed a warrant to enter the apartment. B. Inadmissible, the drugs were not in plain view. C. Admissible, the officer was in hot pursuit. D. Admissible, there were exigent circumstances.
