As teachers we have our personal values that we learned through our families, churches, communities. The schools in which we teach will also have values that are often reflected in the mission and value statements. We also have beliefs that are rooted in these values.
Discuss strategies we can use to ensure:
- We understand our own unconscious biases;
- We are aware of the stereotypes we hold;
- And, are also aware of the ways these can shape our beliefs about our students and how we teach them.
