Multiple imaging techniques are available to "look inside" the body non-invasively and diagnose various conditions and disorders. Some examples of medical imaging techniques include the following: (1) X Rays, (2) CT scans (computerized tomography), (3) Ultrasound scans, (4) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and (5) Positron Emission Tomography - PET scans. For this assignment, research information on each of these techniques and choose one of these techniques to complete the following writing assignment.
For this writing assignment, choose ONE medical imaging technique and write a report using MS WORD, including the following:
1. Name of the technique. This should be the entire name, not an acronym or abbreviation
2. Thoroughly describe the technique in your own words. Don't be afraid to use analogies. Pretend you are describing it to a friend. DO NOT simply copy the description from the resource you use. That would be considered plagiarism. Your description must be thorough to earn full credit.
3. List and describe several applications of the technique (in other words, tell why this particular technique might be used. If you choose ultrasound for this report, include MORE than just obstetrical uses.
4. Describe several advantages and disadvantages of this technique. (You will have to do a bit of web searching to find this information).
5. Find an image prepared using this technique on the web and insert the image into your writing assignment. This should be an image of some body part, not a photo of the device that made the image.
6. Include any other interesting information.
7. Properly reference ALL resources you used.
