Problem: In this age of social networking (e.g., Facebook, Google+, Twitter) where people may become friends with people that they never meet in real life (RL), one of the big challenges is getting to know another person. As we'll see in a discussion later in the class, this may be easier on a social networking where people are able to view others' profile information. One of the great features of the Web is that it gives us some degree of control as to how we present ourselves to others. For this class, however, we do not really have profiles and it can be more of a challenge to get to know each other, particularly when there are no faces to go with names. Task: Choose an avatar (a picture) for the class that may be visible to others in the forum (include the picture in your essay) and explain why you have chosen this avatar. You may use a picture of yourself or any picture that symbolizes something/everything about you.
