Garamone (2022) creates that article Group Work to Eliminate, Diminish Barriers to Women's Military Service that mentions how women are considered to be less than 25% of all population in each military branch which has allowed steps to be taken to diminish possible gender inequality. In 2013 the Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Army General Martin Dempsy dismissed the combat exclusion policy which would now allow women to serve in every rank/specialty. However, despite this action there is still inequality that women in the military seem to face. On a positive note, there are associations that have been created to counteract this prejudice behavior such as the Air Mobility Command Reach Athena. Uniforms, gear, equipment, grooming, etc. are all areas that groups continue look into.
In my opinion, the military does recognize the issues that are mentioned in this article such as pregnancy. Garamone (2022) talks about how if a women was pregnant, they would be involuntary discharged but now they allow women to work throughout their pregnancy and in the case they have to fly the same restrictions as airlines apply as long as there are no complications with the pregnancy.
