Problem-
1) Many Institutional Models: There are a variety of organizational forms that are assumed by the Manipal hospitals for carrying on their work. The Manipal hospitals can be in the form of expertise in medical education and health services, all have their own varied type of requirement for MIS and its automation.
2) Different departments: Manipal hospitals have vastly different hospitals and medical education across the globe and even within the same country. They are running different department like-
3)Methodology of selecting suppliers: When someone uses the system to place an order, the system shows window that might show where he or she could get a better price on the same item and whether the component could be obtained from a branch of Manipal hospital that is overstocked on that item.
4) Other varied requirements: there are variations in terms of the medical facility and reporting Requirements of the Hospitals.
Opportunity-
1. Armed with such powerful software and well-designed business processes, Manipal hospitals may assume the responsibility for an even larger portion of its client’s supply chain.
2. In the fast paced hyper-competitive health industry, profit margins for health services as manipal hospitals are razor thin, amounting to no more than 3-5 per cent. manipal hospitals may able to skyrocket from a tiny company into a multi-billion dollar global organization.
Challenge-
1. Functionally and Expandability
2. Flexibility
3. Usability
4. Reporting
5. Standards and Compliance
6. Technical Specification
What technique(s) would be appropriate to help mitigate the problem? Why?
Solve- the following technique will be helpful to mitigate the problem-
1. Supply chain management information system (MIS).
2. ERP software.
3. One space web-based collaboration software.
Above technique are helpful because-
1. Increased productivity and efficiency
2. Lower cost at long time
3. More accurate and timely reporting
4. Better decision making
What would be the areas which present challenges to the approach (e.g., culture, cost, technology complexity, etc?)
Solve-
Cost- The cost of establishing an MIS may be high, but the real cost of information is not having information. With an institution of any significant scale, the benefits of an investment in information can quickly exceed the costs-even the costs of expensive systems. The best approach is to invest for the long term, perhaps investing even more money up front to enlarge the life of the system and lower the annual cost of the system."
Technology complexity- Client/Server technology is part of business plan because Client/Server technology is a means for separating the functions of an application into two or more distinct parts. The client presents and change data on the computer. The server acts like a workstation to store and retrieve confined data. Together each machine can perform the duties it is best at.
Culture-its But changing an fixed culture is the toughest task we will face. To do so, you must win the hearts and minds of the people you work with, and that takes both slyness and influence. And providing the proper training we can change the culture in the organization.
