An engineering company employs three types of engineers: junior engineers, senior engineers, and partners. During a given year, there is a 15% probability that a junior engineer will be promoted to senior engineer and a 5% probability that he or she will leave the company. Also, there is a 20% probability that a senior engineer will be promoted to partner and a 10% probability that he or she will leave the company. There is a 5% probability that a partner will leave the company. The company never demotes an engineer. The career path of an engineer can be modeled as an absorbing Markov chain with the following states: Junior-Senior-Leave as Partner, and Leave as NonPartner.
