Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 300 to 500 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas. We encounter interpersonal communication situations on a daily basis whether we realize it or not. It is inevitable that you have had conversations that did not go the way you wanted them to go.
Additionally, perception plays a major part in the interpersonal communication process. It acts as a filter through which all communication passes as it travels from one person to the next. An interesting thing to note is that because people can often perceive things differently, the same message can be interpreted in a number of different ways. With those thoughts in mind please discuss one situation where you felt rules of communications were broken, how principles of communications factored into the conversation, and how perception played a factor into the discussion.
Your discussion should include the following:
•The individual you were talking to, the subject over the conversation, and the result of the conversation. ?This can be as straightforward as a conversation with your significant other or family member.
•What rules of conversation such as ethics, listening effectively, patience, and non-verbal considerations, were broken?
•What principles of interpersonal communication factored into the conversation and in what way did they factor into the conversation?
•Discuss how perceptions, both your own and the individual's that you were speaking with, influenced the direction of the discussion. Be sure to use your textbook and our chat this week as a reference for this assignment to reinforce your thoughts.
