Problem: I think a primary barrier that prohibits average bedside nurses from engaging in evidence-based practice is the lack of research, which kind of coincides with the lack of time or motivation to do the research. It would be difficult for organizations to expect nurses to perform extracurricular activities, such us reading up on the latest research papers outside of work, unless the nurses are compensated for their time. We all have our own real-life issues, and we are expected to leave our issues at home as to not affect our work. Conversely, it would be quite hypocritical to expect the opposite.
