Prevention
You as nurse needs to ensure that iron supplementation is given to children who are at risk for iron deficiency. Iron supplementation should start between 4 and 8 weeks. Iron rich foods like banana, eggs, liver, fish, meat, leafy vegetables, peas, spinach, methi, cereals and pulses should be included in the daily diet.
Evaluation
Oral iron administration to infants and young children generally helps in treatment of iron deficiency anaemia provided correct dosage is given and if there is adequate absorption.
