Problem:
The influence of money in politics is another hurdle, as the path to the presidency requires exorbitant amounts of funding. This has been demonstrated by Kamala Harris's ability to leverage the $96 million from the Biden campaign for one of the most successful marketing efforts in U.S. history. This has brought the race extremely close despite her having done only one interview in August 2024 and receiving poor media reception due to her trademark cackle, "word salad," and connection to negative events including the border crisis and Afghanistan evacuation. The Republican side has also spent large sums endorsing Trump despite his prior failings and unpopularity following January 6th and inauguration as the first convicted presidential felon, instead highlighting the ongoing failings of the current Democratic Party. In contrast, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. struggled to gain media coverage outside critics questioning his faculties due to brain worms, as few networks were willing to endorse or spotlight a candidate not affiliated with the major parties. The failure of the Libertarian Party to unify behind its most popular candidate, instead opting for the lesser-known Chase Oliver, illustrates the need for better strategic planning within minor parties
