Throughout the monthly management meeting, Joseph Bond, CFE, made a presentation on the different types of fraud. He presented some illustrations from his prior experience with the FBI and also other well-known cases.
There are different ways to classify the frauds. One categorization systems employ several category types such as the given:
a) Employee embezzlement
b) Management fraud
c) Investment fraud scams
d) Vendor fraud
e) Customer fraud
Search for a fraud or financial crime with sufficient detail to explain the fraud, comprising the classification. If your illustration is considered an occupational fraud based on the ACFE fraud tree, recognize which category it would fall in and explain why. If your case doesn't fall with the ACFE fraud-tree classification, describe why.
