Required Topics; you choose one of them:
1) Anime and Cyber Fandom
Study an anime fan community on the Internet, or search for an anime video through the Internet. Describe your web researching experience in your presentation: analyze the organization of the online fandom, or evaluate the availability of anime videos on the web; examine the cyber platforms and online communities that you encountered or interacted; analyze the popular topics, discussions, and discourses that are circulated within the fan community that you studied, or analyze the forms and qualities of the videos you found..
Try to form a coherent argument or conclusion about anime fan culture on cyberspace from your own experience. Be aware of cultural globalization.
2) Anime and Videogames
Analyze a videogame that you believe has influenced or been influenced by anime. Examine the relations between the game you chose and anime texts, cultures, or practices... It can be stylistic influence (e.g. a game is informing or informed by certain anime styles); industrial connections (e.g. a game designed as a tie-in product to an anime work or vice versa); or fan culture extensions (e.g. fan designed a game as a tribute to an anime character)...
Examine how the two media - anime and videogames- inform and influence each other culturally or aesthetically
3) Anime and other New Media
Choose a new media platform (e.g. mobile devices, interactive platforms, social networks, etc.), and describe your experience of anime (e.g. videos, extra-textual materials, fan activities, etc.) through the platform of your choice. How does the platform affect your consumption of anime? How does the new medium influence the global circulation of anime?
Try to make a coherent argument about the influence of new media on the global spread of anime culture.
