Pretend you are a health psychologist tasked with creating an informational brochure on drug abuse to be distributed to families in your area. Choose two drugs or drug classes we covered in this class that you are most interested in and include information about them in your brochure. Provide a brief history, the mechanism of action, effects on behavior, prevention, treatment strategies as well as any policies or laws related to the drugs. Also include your ideas for future policy, treatment, or prevention for your highlighted drugs. Be sure to cite your sources.
Instructions:
The brochure should include the following:
- Describe your drugs or drug classes and any cultural information on the origins or customs related to it.
- Present the effects of your drug/drug classes on the brain, body, and behavior.
- Dispel one myth about your drug/drug classes.
- Present the impact of the drug on individual, family, and society.
- Describe current policy, prevention, and treatment strategies related to your drugs.
- Make recommendations about future policies, prevention or treatment strategies.
