I need to find a creative word to represent authentic presence of a nurse in a patient encounter. (it could be anything but only one word) "Presence in nursing is an integral and mutual exchange among nurses and patients that involves attentiveness, empathy, and the mature recognition of the nurse's and the patient's holistic needs". To me authentic presence is using my genuine self to give my patient light and hope in times of darkness. Using my authentic presence to help the patient to heal. Once I have chosen the word, I need to explain how the word represent authentic presence.
I cannot use outside sources. The instructor wants us to be creative. I have been thinking about it for the past week, but I cannot come up with anything. I really like the idea of "light in the darkness" because that is essentially what nurses do when they interact with patients. They use authentic presence to give them strength and hope and help them heal.
