Prepare Project of Reservoir simulation using MATLAB RESERVOIR SIMULATION TOOLBOX (MRST) and EnKF Module.
Basically Its reservoir characterization from the production data using Ensemble Kalman Filter ( EnKF) Method.
MRST-EnKF have two example, but theses two example should be updated and add hydraulic fractures parameters in it and create 3-D Reservoir Model and then by using EnKF method calculation of Hydraulic fractures from the production data, remove uncertainty and done sensitivity analysis. Major steps of project are as under:
1) Collect historical production data sample (Post Frac)
2) Perform correlation analysis of IVs with DV (i.e. primary variable) to select relevant parameters for modeling
3) Perform sensitivity analysis to understand the impact of different fracture and reservoir parameters
4) Apply ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) to estimate/update hydraulic fracture parameters and perform history matching
5) Develop Reservoir simulation model to predict flow of fluids using MRST.
6) Perform uncertainty analysis
Research Purpose
Hydraulic fracturing is performed to enable production from low-permeability organic-rich shale and unconventional reservoirs by stimulating the rock and increasing its permeability. Characterization and imaging of hydraulically induced fractures is a critical step in enhancing production predictions and stimulated reservoir volume (SRV). Recorded flowback and historical production data can reveal important information about fracture properties such as Fracture length, Half-length, width, height, permeability including geometry and hydraulic conductivity. However, the complexity and uncertainty in fracture and reservoir descriptions, coupled with data limitations, complicate the estimation of fracture geometric and hydraulic properties.
