Objectives:
• For students to practice designing a presentation in PowerPoint or infographic.
• For students to practice organizing ideas logically and visually for effective communication
• For students to practice responsible and ethical use of visual resources and textual contents in a presentation
• For students to reflect on the design process and the strengths and limitations of free application programs
Student will prepare a storyboard to lay out how the ideas will be presented on paper. This step is for you to organize your ideas and images without the interference of technology. The storyboard is a critical step of your design. You will turn in your storyboard as part of the project products.
Infographic designers:
(1) After the storyboard is in place, students will use free applications to design an infographic, using resources provided by the infographic tools. Instructions on at least two infographic tools will be provided to students.
(2) After the infographic is completed, students will write a short reflective paper on how the storyboard ideas are implemented with the selected tools, explain changes you would make if given a chance to do it over, and discuss lessons learned.
PPT designers:
(1) After the storyboard is in place, students will use Microsoft PPT program to design a PowerPoint presentation, using image and text resources available to you on the Internet. Instructions on making good use of the PPT program will be provided to students.
(2) After the PPT presentation is completed, students will write a short reflective paper on how the storyboard ideas are implemented with Microsoft PPT, explain changes you would make if given a chance to do it over, and discuss lessons learned.
