Problem: Correctional mental health providers often function in various roles, which, at times, can appear to be in conflict with one another. One of these role conflicts is the role of the assessor versus therapist. Often times, correctional mental health clinicians may be asked to evaluate inmates that they have provided treatment services to. Traditionally, community-based providers view this as a conflict. Describe ONE issue or reason that this may present a conflict, and one possible precaution a correctional psychologist can take to reduce the impact of, or resolve, the issue?
