Platyhelminthes - Larval Stages of Fasciola Hepatica and Taenia Solium?
You have already studied the representative species of classes Turbellaria, Trematoda and Cestoda of Phylum platyhelminthes. In this laboratory exercise you will study permanent slides of larval forms of the liver fluke, Fasciola hepatica and the human tapeworm Taenia solium, both of which have complimented life cycles with unusual larval stages .
Objectives
After performing this exercise you will be able to:
- Identify, describe and draw labelled diagrams of the larval stages - miracidium, sporocyst, redia, cercaria, metacercaria of Fasciola hepatica.
- Identify, describe and draw labelled diagrams of the larval stage cysticercus larva of Taenia solium.
