Supportive and Symptomatic Cure
There is no specific treatment but residual streptococci may be eradicated with procaine pencillin for 7 days as advised by concerned physician. The vital signs are monitored regularly and child need to be watched for indication of cerebral manifestation due to hypertension. Antihypertensive drugs are used to control blood pressure. Daily weight record is taken and out put and intake are recorded to evaluate the severity of oliguria. Fluid is restricted to urine out put plus the insensible loses from body i.e. it may be restricted to 400-600 ml plus fluid loss in urine, stool, vomitus in 24 hours.
Bed Rest
During the acute stage of the disease child should be provided bed rest and protected from, chilling, fatigue and contact with others having respiratory infection. Bed rest helps to minimise oedema and hypertension.
