Sales Proposal
Pick a small-scale project that you could do for a company, organization, or university. Examples include:
Establishing a social media presence
Creating a brochure, web page, or series of infographics
Revising form letters or other routine communications
Conducting a training program
Writing a newsletter or an annual report
Developing a marketing plan
Another project of your choice
Write an individual proposal (i.e., a proposal for you to complete the project) specifying what you could do and providing a detailed budget and work schedule.
At a minimum, the proposal should include the following sections:
Introduction. Summarize the subject and purpose of your proposal.
Project plan. Identify the problem and your plan to perform the work. (For example, your company does not currently have a social media presence, and you propose to develop an online social media marketing campaign.) Include a discussion of the issue, your solution(s), and the benefits your solution(s) would provide.
Summary of qualifications. Write a brief overview of your qualifications, benefits you would bring to the organization, and proof of your qualifications. Use your cover letter for project 3 as a good starting point.
Budget. Determine your hourly rate, total time needed to complete the project, and other expenses.
Schedule. Based on the time needed to complete the project, draft a proposed schedule.
