Physics Assignment - Extended Experimental Investigation
Your task here will be to develop your understanding and investigation skills via an extended experimental investigation into one or more of the following topics: Gas Laws, Projectile or Circular Motion. You must develop a research question to investigate a more specific investigation which will permit you to clearly demonstrate a detailed understanding of your research and the related topic. Your "vehicle" for this investigation is to be an air or water propelled rocket which should provide a sufficiently large and rapid acceleration prior to a subsequent unpowered flight. You may choose to develop an experiment which collects data from unguided flight in air or design and implement a track system which will limit or direct the rocket's path.
Using these introductory comments as a guide, you should complete the following:
Select the independent variable and dependent variable(s).
Identify other extraneous variables to be controlled and how they will be controlled.
Form a hypothesis in the proper format, i.e. "If...(independent variable) ... then... (prediction)... because... (reason)..."
Design an experiment that will test your hypothesis about your topic thoroughly.
Implement a risk assessment.
Conduct the experiment.
Write a scientific report on your investigation.
Keep a journal updated as you work through your EEI.
You will need to work in groups of 3 or 4 (max) to research, design and perform your investigation. You will need to produce your individual SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL and SCIENTIFIC REPORT of your investigation.
