Pharohas of 2014:
A twelve year-old pharaoh
Imagine that you are a pharaoh in ancient Egypt that has travelled forward in time and visited Melbourne in 2014.
You return to ancient Egypt and address the ancient Egyptian population with an edict/ speech. You are to write, or record, a speech that addresses the following:
Who are the pharaohs of 2014? (Who do people worship/ look up to).
How is the concept of ‘power and influence’ in 2014, different to 2000 BCE in ancient Egypt?
Compare equality and opportunity in ancient Egypt, to 2014.
(Assessment Criterion C) Skills:
The speech should include a wide range of relevant information that addresses the ideas of power, influence, equality and opportunity with judgement appropriate to a pharaoh. The speech should show a high level of critical analysis by comparing modern Melbourne with ancient Egypt with evidence and examples.
Students should show sophisticated investigative skills by using at least 3 credible sources.
