Personal operative report coding tips

Problem: Great job with the details in your post, Peter. I appreciate the time you take to prepare good quality posts. Your input is valuable! Here are some of my personal operative report coding tips. Let me know your favorite! Always study the pre- and post-op diagnosis and as well as postop findings. Always read AND understand the description of the procedure performed. Why? To learn about the nature of the procedure. Was it more extensive, aborted during the case, complications encountered resulting in a longer procedure. Is a modifier needed? Look up ANY words that you don't understand. If possible, review the pathology report too. Please post back! Prof. Malik
