Pericarditis
Pericarditis is a syndrome caused by inflammation of the pericardium.
Causes
i) Infections
Bacterial : Pneumococci, Staphylococci, Streptococci, Mycotabeicum Thisnanic
Fungal : Histoplasma, Candida species
Viral : Coxsacki virus
ii) Non-infections
Ureamia, M1, trauma, neoplasm, radiation, myxedema, surgical complication, autoimmune diseases, drug reaction.
iii) Clinical Manifestations
Sudden severe, sharp pain radiating to back and shoulders. Pain aggravated by lying supine patient deep breathing, coughing & movement Rapid shallow breath. Pericardial friction rub heard usually at the left sternal border and apex best with patient leaning forward. Tachycardia, hypotension, restlessness, decreased urinary output.
