Problem: One thing that could help alleviate additional workload (not currently in place) is to hire a nurse secretary, someone who could perform the secretarial duties that are associated with the school nurse role. For example, making follow-up calls, notifying parents of failed screenings and following up on referrals, etc. Though this would warrant a budget issue, it would help lessen the workload which ultimately could lead to decreased fatigue and reduced burnout.
