Performing Quality Control
Quality control uses techniques and performs activities to compare actual quality performance with requirements and define appropriate actions if the quality is not up to the mark. Improving quality is the goal of quality control .Quality control also monitors project performance with respect to scope; budget and schedule .It is often performed by quality control department. In order to properly evaluate quality control outputs the project management team should have a working knowledge of statistical quality control such as sampling and probability .They should also know the differences between:
- Prevention: Which is keeping errors out of the process and inspection, which is making sure the customers, do not find any errors.
- Attribute sampling: In which the results may or may not conform to expected results and variable sampling in which the results are rated on a continuous scale that measures the degree of conformity.
- Special causes: That is unusual events and random causes which are normal process variations.
- Tolerances: It is the range of result which is acceptable and control limit is the parameter which shows whether the process is in control or out of control.
