Patient diagnosed as living with dementia

Case study: Stephanie lived in Perth with her husband and two children aged ten and eight. Her parents live in Melbourne, and she has a 'particularly special' relationship with her father, Geoffrey. Geoffrey had been undergoing cancer treatment for 2 years when his health declined, leading to the diagnosis that he had a few months to live. Stephanie's mother was finding caring for her husband quite challenging due to her own health concerns of type II diabetes and osteoarthritis, so Stephanie and her family moved to Melbourne to assist (Stephanie has 2 brothers, though one lives in Dubai and the other in Russia). Stephanie visits their home 2 days a week to offer aid and use her natural health knowledge to strengthen her father's health. Carol considers natural health approaches to be 'wacky' as her career was as a medical professional - at times they politely yet tensely disagree on the approaches to caring for Geoffrey. Geoffrey has outlived the doctor's diagnosis by 6 years and is still in reasonable health. In the meantime, though, he has also been diagnosed as living with dementia, so generally forgets his health issues. As a result he is generally a content person
