Pathophysiology of Acute Renal Failure
It is usually reversible but the deviation of physiologic function can be extreme and mortality in pediatric age group remains high. There is severe reduction in glomerulo filteration rate (GFR) and alleviated blood urea nitrogen level and significant reduction in renal blood flow.
Medical Management
Treatment of acute renal failure consists of following:
1) treatment of underlying cause
2) management of complications of renal failure
3) provision of supportive therapy
4) fluid and electrolyte balance 5) diuretic therapy
6) early recognition and management of complications
