Write something back to this. Many contextual realities apply in this case where parents consider intentional harm for their offspring or fetus. Decision to cause deafness to a fetus to belong to deaf community may not be the best decision to benefit a fetus. However, the parents made the decision and as the female doctor, many contextual considerations may be made. Firstly, cultural background involves the parents' desire to cause deafness in order to ensure that their offspring belongs to the deaf community. Indeed, this cultural context is understandable when considered from the parent's point of view, which is to ensure unity and harmonize their family with the larger deaf community. The couple planned to have deaf children in order to belong to the community. Health perspective is another important context. Indeed, causing harm to the fetus in order to belong to a community may not be medically acceptable. Therefore, such decisions may pose medical ethical challenges. The fetus is considered apparently healthy, and causing deafness may be harmful to the fetus. This medical context highlights the principles of beneficence and non-maleficence. Causing deafness is harmful and contradicts the principle of do no harm to patients.
