Recently, the city of St. Louis Aldermen voted to increase the minimum wage in Saint Louis city beyond that of federal or state minimum wage. Their were several proposals, the one I think they passed (unless something changed) was to increase the minimum wage to $11/hour by Jan 2018. So a few points that should be covered in detail:
1. Overall economic impact of minimum wage law - who is helped and who is hurt. How this applies to this situation.
2. How the difference in wages in one region versus another changes incentives for businesses. You can look at what has happened to companies outsourcing to other countries to use cheaper labor - and how that applies to this situation.
3. Look at other cities that have also increased the minimum wage and what has happened - will that be the same for St. Louis - why or why not?
4. Find articles written by local leaders and analyze whether or not they have sound economic foundations to their arguments.
