Question 4: This week our discussion will bring all ideas into one place as you design a program for a school, that involves students, parents and staff. You will design a program that will be at one of three levels; your choice of elementary, middle or high school student populations. Your program will involve students, staff, and parents and you will demonstrate how it will reduce stress for student, parent and staff. You will provide referenced support to show there is research behind your ideas. This program should not just focus on one issue but multiple issues that students face. Feel free to use any references found in past weeks of this course.

Question 5: The APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct outline the code of ethics for psychologists. There are general ethical principles that should be considered in research design. In the discussion this week, our goal is to identify and raise potential ethical concerns for conducting research methods in social sciences. In this discussion, you will examine one of APA's general principles or one section of the Code of Conduct. Explain the impact of the principle or code on research participants or the misuse of research findings in the public. Provide at least one example (either from the literature or generate one yourself) of how the misuse or absence of the principle/code could negatively impact participants or the public. Please include an explanation of the ethical principles and why it is important for researchers to uphold ethical principles.

Question 6: Police leadership tends to align with one of the three traditional leadership styles (1) Authoritative; (2) Transactional; and (3) Transformational. While there are other leadership styles, these three tend to be among the most common.

A. Compare and contrast these three roles. As part of your comparison, discuss the unique characteristics of each leadership style as it relates to law enforcement administration.

B. Conclude by explaining which of the three styles, in your opinion, is most effective for today's police leaders and why you chose that particular style.

Question 7: This week's reading provides overview of the research on the formation of subcultures and social control theory. After reviewing the reading for week 3, as well as the week 3 discussion articles in the lesson for this week, discuss/debate with your classmates your position on which factors you feel play a greater role pertaining to middle-class delinquency and its relation to gangs.

  • Jane Goodall an her book, "Seeds of Hope: Wisdom and Wonder."
  • Janet Cooke and the Washington Post.

Choose one of the above examples and answer the following:
