Problem
As the new manager you are faced with many challenges including dealing with the transition from colleague to boss, the development of a new team, the implementation of new procedures as well as the recruitment of one additional staff member.
There are a number of issues that the Head of Finance would like you to address. They include problems with communication within your team and the lack of motivation among some members of the team. A blame culture is developing, and some cliques are being formed. Most people are unsure of their role and key objectives. Your boss is concerned that if these problems aren't dealt with soon the performance of the team will suffer.
Tuckman suggested that teams pass through 4 stages of development to reach high performance. Describe each of these stages. The team is currently in the storming stage; outline how you will move your team from the storming stage to the norming stage and then to the performing stage.
