NIMS, fully known as the National Incident Management System, is a program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, commonly known as FEMA. FEMA is one of the operational and support components of the Department of Homeland Security, DHS. The DHS was formed in response to ensure the protection of the American homeland in 2001 by President G.W. Bush in response to the 9/11 attacks.
The Structure of NIMS
NIMS is organized into standard incident command centers which are based on the following key organization systems:

2. The Multiagency Coordination System
