One of poetrys key features is the way it sounds most poets

One of poetry's key features is the way it sounds. Most poets pay close attention to not just the words they choose to use but how those words sound in combination with each other. This is why many poems rhyme and have rhythm (or "meter" as we call it in poetry). Poems have a lot in common with songs, in fact. Songs are simply poems set to music. If you like music, then by definition, you are actually also a poetry lover. You might just prefer the addition of instrumentation to your poems ;)

After listened  "The Times They Are A-Changin" song by Bob Dylan,

Then, go to this web site

and look at  all the annotations in the song.

1. What did you learn from them?

2. Did they provide you with a more specific interpretation of the song than you had previously?

3. Did your idea of the song's meaning change?

4. Do you like the song as much as or more than you did before?

5. Do you agree with the song's themes now that you have a better idea of what's actually being said and dealt with in the song?

6. Finally, how would the song be different without music behind it? Would it still work as a poem? Why or why not?
