Supply Chain Management Assignment
Learning Outcomes:
After completing the module you should be able to:
1. Optimise the design of a supply chain to ensure strategic competitiveness in a global market.
2. Audit the operation of a supply chain to ensure quality and effective performance.
3. Deploy analytical and evaluative skills in the analysis and critique of global supply chain scenarios.
4. Develop effective and logical strategies to maximise the effectiveness of supply chains.
Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and a word count; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in Bournemouth University (BU) Harvard format. You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work.
Maximum word count: 3000 words
Please note that exceeding the word count will result in a reduction in grade proportionate to the number of words used in excess of the permitted limit.
Assignment Task -
Identify a company of your choice. This may be your own organisation, one that you are familiar with or even one taken from a case study.
1. Assume that you have been appointed by the board of directors to carry out an audit on the organisation's supply chain and its management. The purpose of the audit is to identify the strengths and weaknesses within the supply chain and how these are impacting on the performance of the organisation.
2. On the basis of the information gained from the audit, you have been requested to develop appropriate strategies to minimise any weaknesses and further develop strengths to maximise the effectiveness of the supply chain and ensure that it achieves world class standards.
Your narration should identify your key points and the key arguments you wish to develop in support of your analysis. The duration of the narration for each slide must not exceed one minute. It is not a good idea to simply read your notes, after all these are already available in written form, but rather to provide your summary of what the notes say.
It is important that you support your work with sound academic theory and that examples are used, where appropriate, to make your case. Credit will be given for further reading. As this is a presentation an executive summary is not required and appendices are not appropriate but your work must show an appropriate reference list on your final slide.
Formative Feedback
You have the opportunity to submit a one-page summary of your intended approach to receive formative feedback.
The feedback is designed to help you develop areas of your work and it helps you develop your skills as an independent learner.
