The heart is made of striated cardiac muscle tissue. The heart muscle is known as the myocardium and it is oxygenated and nutrified by the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries come from the base of the aorta and ramify around the heart penetrating the myocardium.
Diseases of the coronary arteries are severe conditions.
