Objectives of Operation Process chart
1. It helps to decide whether a further and more detailed record is needed.
2. It is used in the design stages to assist the layout of the plant and location of one department with respect to the other.
3. It helps the analyst to visualize the process for examination as a means for better understanding and improvement of the process.
4. It shows clearly the relationship between various parts and materials which enter the final assembly.
Operations process chart of an assembly contains a large number of lines, one for each component. The flow line for the main component to which the largest numbers of components are assembled is charted on the extreme right hand side. The flow lines of other components are then placed on the left of the main flow line considering the order of assembly of components. The individual flow line s are made to be fed into the main flow line at the stage at which their components are assembled. Each flow line record s principal operations and inspections performed on the component it represents.
