Nursing Assessment
These children present with excessive salivation and droofing of saliva from the mouth, coughing, gagging, even choking and cyanosis at the lime of first feed. Aspiraton pneumonia may also occur in these children. Diagnostic evaluation includes passing of radio-opaque catheter into stomach. Its curling up in oesophageal pouch can be seen on screen Plain X-ray abdomen shows gas in the stomach.
