Nursing Assessment
Hypospadias can be observed by nurse or parents at birth. The child presents with abnormal pattern of voiding and presence of chordae. The stream of urine may be deflected downwards or splash and drip back along the shaft of the penis. The child with a penoscrotal or perineal hypospadias voids in the sitting position. In glandular or cororlal hypospadias the child is able to void standing up, tilting the penis slightly upwards. The other problems include emotional distress inability of the boy to urinate while standing and has to sit for voiding, the cloths may get wet while passing urine.
