Nongonococcal nonchlamydial urethritis and cervicitis
Nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) in men is often nonchlamydial as well. Possibly caused by Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma genitalium or other (unknown) pathogens, it usually responds to azithromycin or doxycycline. NGU that does not resolve with azithromycin or doxycycline may respond to erythromycin or ofloxacin, or in some cases to treatment for trichomoniasis.
