Neo-zoonoses
In recent times, some of the pre-existing low profile and less frequent zoonoses and some entirely newly recognized zoonoses are emerging with a new dimension. These zoonoses are called neo-zoonoses. The reasons for such emergence are encroachment of forests, changing pattern of infectious diseases, industrialization of food production, processing, storage and distribution, tourism and intensive animal husbandry practices.
Some of the neo-zoonoses are cutaneous leishmaniasis, babesiosis, haemorrhagic colitis, yeriniosis, listeriosis, lassa fever, rotavirus infection, monkey pox infection, crypytosporidiosis, campylobacteriosis, Ranikhet disease (Newcastle disease).
